Tom Brady's Karma

Monty:

I tuned in to the Patriots-Chargers game just before LT's touchdown run made it 21-13. The game, from that point on, reminded me of Brady's first super bowl. With Bledsoe healthy on the sidelines, Brady hit 20-yard passes to seemingly wide open receivers to set-up Vinitieri's winning field goal.

Remember the legal flap about Belichick going to the Pats? That same year, Brady was taken in the sixth round behind six other quarterbacks. These two decisions were the reason for three super bowls and a fourth this year. Dumb luck? Karma? More analysis, less facts?

If the Patriots are the model - and they should be - we need to trade Chad Johnson.

That is an interesting conclusion to reach based on the premises. Regardless, I wholeheartedly disagree. First of all, trade him for what? Secondly, I bet the Patriots would take Chad. Why? Because despite all his talk he delivers. He is the only reciever in NFL history to lead the league in recieving yards four seasons in a row. Bill even likes him. Not sure why you would want to get rid of that talent. pretty much anything we get in return would be of less value.

My conclusion is not based on his trade value. It's probably not based on ecomonics, either. If those were the only logical measures (and they likely are), my conclusion is nonsense.

I should stop there with that in mind, but my point is different. The Pats seemingly don't make stupid mistakes. The reason: they are BETTER after a mistake. (or, beam, perhaps because Brady has a nice ass.) If I have to see CJ sulk after one more drop, I'll lose my mind. So, he's no better than Moss, Owens, etc. - who turned out to be dispensible - so until he gets closer to JR than to TO, good riddance.

You are kidding yourself if you think Jerry Rice didn't sulk after some drops. Sure, CJ is immature and moody. And he does sulk when he drops a pass. But that's because hes pretty competitive. He doesn't take plays off. You didn't hear a single peep from him when TJ and Henry were getting more TDs than him. And everyone knows they do well because of the coverage on Chad. Chad works as hard as anyone in the league. Sounds like you want to get rid of him because you simply don't like him. You probably would have traded Jom Brown and Ty Cobb as well.

Jim Brown: No trade. Ty Cobb: No trade. Babe Ruth: yes.

I don't think you improve any organization by losing talent. The Bengals need better players to have more success.

It would also help if Carson didnt audible into a run 70% of the time.

Oh yeah, a new long snapper might help!

You know the kind of guy who is a good athelete with movie star good looks who then falls backwards into the starting quarterback position only to win 3 Super Bowls and get even better looking? I told everyone it was karma. But everyone really knows I sold my soul to the devil. I'm just trying to get a date with Susie. My name is Tom.

You know the kind of guy who is everybody's All-American and a marketing juggernaut, but cries because he can never beat Florida in college and can't win a playoff game in the pros? Karma. That's when I realized I was getting what I deserved. I'm just trying to win a playoff game. My name is Peyton.

I think that the Colts will break through this year and take down the Patriots. Colts v. Bears in the Super Bowl. Any other predictions?

Carson's audibles are slightly easier to read than your "tells", Moose. Everytime he audibles, its a run. Every time you tug on your t-shirt, I know you'll....

Saints & Patriots in the bowl. Patriots by 6 on another final drive. Dillon announces his retirement and buys 20 billboards in the Cincinnati area saying "Thanks, Mike! I forgive you."

That's not my shirt that I tug when I get a good hand.
